"[new] He's been in 60 days for gosh sakes give him time. I think he is doing great. He has done more in a month than Bush did his entire term. He said he'd end the Iraq war. He never said Afghanistan in fact he said when he was running he'd go into Afghanistan to get the people who attacked us. Osama should have been captured in Bora Bora.
As for abortion he is not pro abortion he is pro choice and until you can squeeze an 8 lbs baby out of a tiny little hole in your body the decision is not yours.
But if you want to carry on with this you'll have to go to the politic thread. We don't really want to upset EZ. :)
Or Rock...:)"

He said that he would pull the troops out, and now he's changing his mind.
And Pro-Choice is just a nicer way of saying Pro-Abortion.
But realy, no matter what you call it you're still killing unborn babies. Because yes, they ARE living babies to be when you kill them, not unliving "things".
benjimonji, 2009-03-30 05:08:12 PDT and edited on 2009-03-30 05:09:11 PDT
No benji it really isn't. Pro choice means just that you have a choice in what you do with your body. You provide a CHOICE in birth control not limit it. By preaching abstinence, limiting programs for condoms, birth control pills, day after pills, depo shots and sex education like the Bush administration has done you actually increase the number of unwanted pregnancies and in turn increase the abortion rate. Look at the statistics. Teen pregnancy is the highest it has ever been. Just watch what happens in a few years as Sex education programs are reimplemented. You will see it go down and so will abortions.
I personally don't agree with abortion completely. I think it should only be done if the mother's life is in jeopardy or in the case of rape. It should not be used as a form of birth control and I don't believe in late term at all. I think as science progresses and they are able to keep fetuses alive earlier and earlier the acceptable line will keep moving.
Education and access to birth control is the best way to lower abortion. Banning it would only makes matters worse.
BLuECaT, 2009-03-30 07:36:37 PDT
That's what I mean. I mean if you don't want to have babies then don't have sex, it's as easy as that.
The thing is that that very few (I believe only about 5-6%) women who get abortions have been raped, but other women think that if they do it they can do it.
Oh this crazy world we live in.
benjimonji, 2009-03-31 04:25:02 PDT
:) You're so cute.
BLuECaT, 2009-03-31 06:28:00 PDT
Oh geez where do I start? First consider your source. Worldnet is put out by a rich Conservative bible thumping nut job as far as I'm concerned. Read this:
Who's Behind WorldNetDaily?
WND's board of directors has been mostly comprised of California conservatives -- plus a man on the lam for tax evasion.
http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2007/wndbackers.html
Then check snopes for the Muslim propaganda : http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/ellison.asp
Personally I have no problem with Muslims in office as it would be wrong to keep someone out of public office because of their religion that is part of the reason for a separation of church and state. I feel even Obama has put too much religion into our political system.
Obama is not hiring Muslims as that article leads you to believe. A book of resumes from some of the best and the brightest Muslim Ivy leaguers was sent to the White House. It's part of an effort to get the administration to focus on a group that has at times felt slighted or worse. They are sending the resumes Obama is not seeking them out.
He got a list of names of QUALIFIED Muslim people from several groups. He has also gotten resumes from the Hispanic community the NAACP, the league of Jewish voters, the Catholic groups etc...
He is seeking to fill a lot of positions and so a lot of people are trying to get their people in. The same thing happens with every president the difference here is Bush used favors and nepotism while Obama is seeking the most qualified. They'll be vetted and the best person will get the job.
It should not matter what religion they are. I don't really care I just want someone with the skills and brains to get this country out of the mess it is in. Also if hiring a few QUALIFIED Muslims will smooth over some of the ruffled feathers in the Middles Eastern countries I have no problem with that at all. Maybe we can get out of Afghanistan sooner and my son can come home.
From the LA Times
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-obama-muslims ...
As for the Coal Obama has said ‘Cap and Trade’ Must Protect Against Cost Spikes. He said there must be provisions in the bill to prevent cost increases or he will not sign it.
from bloomberg: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a_DK3yv5jq ...
He wants a cap-and-trade program that would set a price for greenhouse-gas emissions that would make it prohibitively expensive to run the old dirty coal plants. The ones that are killing people. It would not effect the new coal plants because they have less emissions Now the people saying he will drive up prices etc are "Business Roundtable peeps", who own or have stock in (like Sarah Palin) Coal companies. Obama has repeatedly said he supports clean coal.
They can either retrofit their plants or close. They will not be able to just raise their prices and do nothing on their end to upgrade.
From Whitehouse.gov
Obama’s Department of Energy will enter into public private partnerships to develop five “first-of-a-kind” commercial scale coal-fired plants with clean carbon capture and sequestration technology.
I personally think Obama is wrong here. THERE IS NO CLEAN COAL.
As for the veterans treatment issue that has been dropped. This is the first president I have ever seen that ACTUALLY listens to WE THE PEOPLE. He is trying to come up with ways to trim the budget. After we complained about this idea he dropped it. I wrote letters to Claire McCaskill and Pelosi on this matter a lot of people did!
From CNN: Leaders from 11 veterans groups discussed their position in a meeting Wednesday afternoon with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
Emanuel indicated that the proposal was "a dead issue," King added. "The administration was quick to say [that if veterans were] going to fight it, [the White House wasn't] going to push it."
Another attendee, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff, said Emanuel was quick to come back after hearing the veterans' groups stand firm and tell them, "Let's clarify, it is dead."
"They made the right move -- they listened to us. Now we can move on to bigger more important issues," Rieckhoff said.

What is really scary is seeing how these Limbaugh types distort the facts to work against the President. It is wrong.
It divides the country is not helping anyone.

I am not going to reply too much here as I feel political talk divides friendships in a lot of cases.
I will only quickly say that Nobama does not think clearly through what he proposes.
And you talk about him selecting QUALIFIED people. What about Timothy Geithner, US secretary of the TREASURY who was behind on taxes!! Not to mention the other appointees who had faild to pay taxes?? Obviously no investigation was done on these people just as I fear the muslims he appoints I feel will not be investigated and have the wrong plans for this countyr :(
rockcrawler304, 2009-03-30 07:19:27 PDT
It divides the country as well. Civil discussion between adults should not be a problem. I hope you aren't the type to get angry.
I don't get angry talking about politics. I love it. I have been involved in the political system since I was 17. I've met Bush Sr. Bill Clinton (x4) Hillary (x2) amd Obama (X4) I absolutely love caucusing. I judge a lot by first impressions and I can tell you Obama in person impressed me.
The vetting process works or you would not have known about any tax problems. How many people do you know that have never had a tax issue?
If no investigation was done then you wouldn't know anything as with the Bush cronies. Look at how many of the peeps he appointed are now doing jail time.
What exactly do you FEAR about Muslims and what wrong plans do you think they have for this country? Do you think having Catholics in the Whitehouse is bad too? How about the Jews? Maybe we can elect a Mormon next time and he can make poligamy legal.
Just what you need huh a few extra wives. LOL
I have faith in the democratic process. This entire presidency is online for everyone to see. I like it that way.
BLuECaT, 2009-03-30 08:51:41 PDT
Oh gee who would have guessed this one? <waves madly> ME!
A new nationwide study of anonymised credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider finds states that consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption.

A wide-ranging investigation has been launched into allegations that a well-known Pueblo resident has molested many boys over the years, including most recently when he was the manager for Sen. John McCain's presidential-campaign office in Pueblo.
Under investigation is Jeffrey Claude Bartleson, 52, who was arrested Jan. 29 and then re-arrested Wednesday after a campaign worker in the McCain office told police she believed Bartleson molested one of her sons.

Are you going to any inauguration parties BANc?
BLuECaT, 2009-01-14 13:10:56 PST
putting the Wall Street bailout into perspective.
$700bn Could: Would clear the accumulated debt of the 49 poorest countries in the world ($375bn) twice over
· Is almost 5 times the annual amount of extra aid needed to achieve all the Millennium Development Goals on poverty, health, education etc ($150bn a year)
· Is about 7 years of current global aid levels ($104bn in 2007)
· Is enough to eradicate all world poverty for over two years (UNDP calculates it would take $300bn to get the entire world population over the $1 a day poverty line).
On the other hand it’s
· only a quarter of the cost of the Iraq war ($3 trillion on Joseph Stiglitz’ calculation )
· a half of annual global military spending ($1339 bn)

I know right? WOW! WOO HOO HOO WOW WOW WOW! This has been one of the best weeks of my entire lifetime. Big hug BANc!! Now the REAL work starts!
Hey BANc make sure you stay connected on the change.gov and change.org sites. We have polls on what should be done next etc. Obama is keeping in touch with his 3 million plus supporters and we are keeping his feet to the fire! I love the way he keeps everyone involved in politics. It was so funny. my army son was wearing his Obama shirt before the election and they made him remove it. He wore a soldiers for Obama button on his scrubs and they made him remove it and said NO political buttons. (They were all voting McCain and talking McCain) Anyway the day after Obama won My son wore his button to work and walked right up to his CO and said OK NOW DO YOU HAVE a PROBLEM supporting the president of the United States? LOL He got to wear his pin.
BLuECaT, 2008-11-08 06:33:58 PST
lol that is a great story. Big props to your son.
I think this is an exciting moment in history, and we should all revel in it.
Change.org is awesome for political web junkies like myself. It's like we now have 2 presidents to complain about for the price of one.
